This division has as objective to provide transference services of liquids bulks from/ to ships specialized on storaging and charge/ discharge from trucks. Aditionally provides logistical support in the case it may be required. The operations take place in its two terminals, located in Quintero Bay- V region- and Gulf of Arauco –VIII region.
Bay of Quintero maritime Terminal has a pier which can receive ships until 42000 tons weight, 225 long and a draught of 12.4 meters. It counts with 30 tanks, which go from 160 to 12.000 cubic meters .Aditionally it has a tank of less capacity to receive operational cuts.
The infrastructure is composed by three discharge islands, where can charge/ discharge 10 trucks simultaneously, providing a transferring rate of more than 750 tons / hour. Also it has laboratories, scales for weighing trucks and an important equipment for fire emergency controls , both on land and at sea.
By this terminal are transferring around a million of tons per year, being the main categories of products clean fuels and chemicals, such as sulfuric acid and caustic soda.
It is important to remark that the terminal of the Bay of Quintero has been recheck in the Program of Responsible Care of the Chemical Industries Association A.G.
The Maritime terminal of the Gulf of Arauco , works with an anchorage and four submarine lines, it has nine tanks, which goes from 2.000 to 150.000 cubic meters, with a total of 48.000 cubic meters. Also it has tanks with less capacity to receive operational cuts. The terminal has two charge islands, where can charge/discharge four trucks simultaneously.
It also has laboratories, scale to weighing trucks and an important equipment for fire emergency controls, both on land and at sea. By this terminal 300.000 tons per year are being transferred, being the main categories of products those clean ones such as Metanol and Caustic Soda.
During the year 2007, a partnership was formed with the major terminal operator of the world VOPAK, for the development of a new terminal in the Bay of Mejillones.
This partnership has the name of Terminal- Vopak-Oxiquim Mejillones S.A. Its purpose is to provide high level services of storaging and transferring for liquid bulks, which will not be transferred through Antofagasta, thus as to cover the rising requirements of the mining industry of the zone. |
